This course introduces the key issues, major theories and principles to second language acquisition as well as implications of such theories into classroom practice. The purpose of this course is twofold. It aims (1) to provide an overview of the key understandings, theory and research of SLA and (2) to make meaningful connections between research and application. Critical thinking will be encouraged in examining debates and texts in second language learning and teaching.
